More on Surface Area and Volume of Spheres, Cones and Pyramids

Students reviewed how to find the surface area and volume of spheres, cones and pyramids by working in groups to answer a series of questions related to real life situations.

Tonight's Homework: Complete the problems on the pink worksheets that you did not finish in class today.

Happy Earth Day!

Students received stickers and bookmarks to commemorate earth day. We also enjoyed treats to celebrate our terrific results on the state math test. We learned how to figure out the surface area and volume of spheres, and tried to make sense of the formulas using pictures.

Tonight's Homework: Home Book, pages 74-75 ( 4 - 15 ).

Round One of OAKS Math Testing is Complete

Students completed the last portion of the state math test today in class. The scores were phenomenal, and a tribute to the hard work, dedication, and determination of all who took the test. I couldn't be prouder of you!

Tonight's Homework: Complete the brown integer computation worksheet if you didn't do so in class today. It's due on Monday, 4/22.

Day Two of OAKS Math Testing is History!

Students completed the next portion of the state math test today in class. While most students took their time to complete the next 15 problems on the test, some were able to finish the test today. The majority of the class will complete the test tomorrow, and I'm hoping most, if not all, students will be pleased with their results. Cross your fingers!

Tonight's Homework: Be sure to get enough rest tonight, and come back refreshed and ready to finish taking the state test!

Day One of OAKS Testing is Complete

Students began the state math test in class today, and most were able to complete the first 15 problems with plenty of time to go back and double check their work.

OAKS Math Testing Begins this Week

Students took a practice test on the computers in class today to ensure that they could properly use all of the tools available to them on the state test when they take it later in the week. I answered a variety of questions as they surfaced.

Tonight's Homework: Be sure to get enough sleep tonight so you are rested and ready to your best on tomorrow's OAKS math test. You are well-prepared and capable of doing very well, especially if you take your time and do your best. Good Luck!! I'm rooting for each and every one of you!

Surface Area of Boxes

Students chose two boxes to create nets and then found the surface area of the boxes. They had ample time to complete the nets, and most had time to find the surface area, as well.

Tonight's Homework: Complete the state test review problems on the worksheets you received in class today. If you did not finish finding the surface area of the two nets you created in class today, please finish this as well.
